At Berry Lane Dental Surgery in Longridge, Preston we are pleased to announce we are now offering our patients Invisalign.
Invisalign is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth, and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of the teeth, gums and jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all the teeth. Many people have crowded or crooked teeth. Invisalign will straighten the teeth or move them into a better position. This not only improves appearance but also the way the teeth bite together, while also making them easier to clean.
In some patients the upper front teeth can stick out and look unsightly. These ‘prominent’ teeth are more likely to be damaged traumatically in sport or an accident, but Invisalign can move them back into the protective line of the dental arch. In others, the way the upper and lower jaws meet can cause teeth to look unsightly and lead to an incorrect bite. Invisalign may be able to correct both situations, often leading to a feeling of greatly improved confidence and self-worth.
When the teeth don’t meet correctly, this can put strain on the muscles of the jaw, causing jaw and joint problems, pain, and in some cases headaches. Invisalign can help you to bite more evenly and reduce this strain.
With Invisalign clear aligners are custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time. When you change to the next set of aligners (typically every week) your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by your dentist.
